There are so many exciting ways to see the sights of Bangkok - hail a tuk-tuk and join the throng of people hurrying through the streets, look down on the city from the Skytrain or travel the traditional way, by floating down the khlongs aboard a longtail boat.
Cruise through the canals of Bangkok to see the magnificent Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho and explore the city's chaotic floating markets. Then it's off to Kanchanaburi to visit the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai and to take a dip in the seven-tiered waterfall of Erawan National Park.
Visit the ancient temples and sprawling ruins of Ayuthaya where 33 kings ruled over Siam. There's plenty of time to explore one of the richest periods in Siamese history and maybe even squeeze in a game of hide-and-seek among the ruins.
Get up close to hippos, gibbons and rhinos at the Chiang Mai Zoo. Enjoy the views from the hilltop temple of Doi Suthep before an evening at the colourful night market.
See bath time at the nearby Elephant Conservation Centre before taking an unforgettable ride through the jungle atop one of the elephants. Spend the night in a small village and be welcomed into homes by Intrepid's long-time local friends. Take a relaxed bike ride through the surrounding countryside then share a traditional khan toke dinner.
Get up early and join the locals in giving alms to the monks or perhaps start the day stretching out with a yoga session. Jump on board bicycles and head out to the countryside to get a taste of rural life. Back in Chiang Mai there are loads of fun things to delight everyone: take a boat trip down the river, explore the temples or even try a Thai cooking class.
It's time for some beach-side fun in the sun. Cruise to a nearby island on a speedboat and maybe throw in a fishing line or have a go at some water sports. In the evenings there are plenty of opportunities to sample local food and maybe even catch a fire-dancing show.
Returning to Bangkok, there are still so many great sights to see. Check out the Grand Palace and Chinatown or visit the bustling markets.
