Daily life overflows onto the teeming streets, into the French-style cafes and in the peaceful pagodas of Ho Chi Minh City. Take it all in with a cyclo city tour and stop by the War Remnants Museum. Clamber into the mind-boggling Cu Chi Tunnels. Be warned - it's a tight fit.
Cruise the maze of waterways crisscrossing the fertile Mekong Delta before enjoying traditional hospitality at a rural homestay. Awaken early the following morning to mingle with locals at the floating markets.
Stunning mountains, squeaky sand and a shimmering sea make Nha Trang the perfect place for a beach break. See it all on a cyclo tour, then cruise the nearby islands, stopping to swim and snorkel in the balmy sea. Feast on the day's catch and head out to experience the town's famed nightlife.
A renowned port in the 16th and 17th centuries, Hoi An still retains an enchanting sense of centuries past. Wander beneath crab-shell ceilings and charming courtyards inside ancient family homes or cycle into the scenic surrounding countryside.
Stop at lovely Lang Co Beach for lunch en route to the walled city of Hue, once the exclusive domain of Vietnam's former royal rulers. See the ruins of the Imperial Citadel and a spectacular royal tomb, before embarking upon a river cruise.
Despite the throngs of bicycles, cyclos and motorbikes, Hanoi retains its French Provincial air. Visit the Temple of Literature and the Fine Arts Museum before attending an evening water puppet performance.
Start the day with breakfast at KOTO, an organisation that trains street kids in restaurant management and hospitality. Visit a handicraft centre that supports locals living with disabilities, then board a junk boat to cruise the jade waters of Halong Bay. Uncover beaches, secret grottoes and soaring karst peaks and dine overlooking the incredible bay scenery.
Stop by villages to see local artisans crafting traditional ceramics. Hit the hectic streets of Hanoi and soak up the French-colonial vibe. Stroll through the Old Quarter, a collection of around 50 streets where anything and everything is for sale. Perhaps celebrate the end of the journey over a final feast.
