Gladiators, ancient icons and gelati - this exciting city has something for the whole family. Toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain to ensure your safe return or watch for centurions outside the Colosseum. Climb into the Time Elevator and try to make sense of the city's 2,500 years of history - and have some fun along the way.
Get a bird's-eye view of this medieval Tuscan town cycling around the ramparts. Tour beautiful Florence, a haven for art lovers and the perfect place to be introduced to the world's great artists. Don't miss the Uffizi - home to an almost uncountable collection of Italian and Florentine masterpieces. Take a day trip to Pisa to see the cathedral, baptistry and famous Leaning Tower.
Visit the Cinque Terre or 'five lands', a series of quaint villages connected by a coastal path. With olive grove-covered mountains on one side and steep cliffs plunging into the sea on the other, the views from the path are stunning and best experienced on foot. There is plenty of time to wander the villages, eat (more) gelati and have some seaside fun in the sun, before heading back to lovely Levanto for the night.
Relax by the shores of majestic Lake Maggiore in a resort that doubles as a ski village. Explore the region first by ferry and then by cable car on a ride to the top of nearby mountains for panoramic views of the Italian Alps. The scenery here is beautiful - blue waters, soaring peaks and plenty of woodlands.
Lose yourself in the maze of canals, lanes and backstreets, and take in the famous Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge and the Doge's Palace. There is plenty of time to people-watch in the piazzas, peruse the old-world shops and simply soak up the atmosphere of this enchanting city. See the sights from canal level on a vaporetto or gondola.
