The apartments in the walled city of Lucca are cosy and central. Get comfortable and gear up for a week-long Italian experience.
A region synonymous with fine art, enchanting vistas, great architecture, exquisite produce and some of Italy's finest wines, Tuscany is easy to explore and impossible to forget. Lucca buzzes with sidewalk cafes, chic boutiques and charming restaurants - all great places to ease into the local scene. Perhaps kick-start the adventure with a cycle around the city walls or a walk through the cobbled piazzas. Alternatively, visit the produce markets to meet the locals and stock up on fresh goods, ready to whip into a Tuscan feast back in the fully equipped apartment kitchen. Be sure to visit San Michele in Foro, a dazzling church with a unique facade. Another great idea is to head out and see the famed rolling hills and open fields of the Tuscan countryside. From Lucca, day trips further afield are also possible. Perhaps visit artistic Florence to take a stroll through the Uffizi Gallery or head to beautiful Siena to sit beneath the elegant Torre del Mangia. Travel by train to Pisa to see the iconic Leaning Tower and maybe set another day aside to stroll the renowned coastal walk between the villages of the Cinque Terre - the spectacular Mediterranean views are sure to delight. With such an array of things to do, see, taste, sip and buy, you'll never want to leave this gorgeous region of Italy.
Unfortunately, all wonderful things must come to an end, so bid a fond arrivederci to this local Italian adventure.
