This is a self-guided walking tour along a pre-designated route. Departure is subject to availability and is on request.

Begin the walk in the beautiful medieval city of Siena. Justifiably renowned for its art and architecture as well as its magnificent food and wines, Siena offers an old-world atmosphere. Walk the swirl of city streets around Il Campo to discover fascinating pockets of history.

There is a choice of routes to Montalcino - either through the Brunello vineyards and farmlands or via the famous Benedictine abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. Both offer magnificent views of the surrounding hills. Indulge in a rest day in this classic hilltop town, home of the magnificent Brunello di Montalcino wine. Perhaps take an optional walk to the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, where the monks still conduct services in Gregorian chant.

Walk through farmlands, vineyards and then shady woods to the truly remarkable village of Bagno Vignoni. Hardly known to foreign tourists, this village is one of Tuscany's best-kept secrets. Back in Roman times it was a popular holiday spot - for both its therapeutic natural springs and for its idyllic surroundings.

Today's walk travels along a river and then gently up across farmland and past the wonderful church of Pieve di Corsignano to the immaculate medieval-planned town of Pienza. Enjoy free time to explore the picturesque surrounds and take in the magnificent views south to Mt Amiata.

The final day's walk meanders through glorious hilly landscapes, past the beautiful village of Montichiello and on through fields and vineyards up to Montepulciano - one of Tuscany's most treasured and evocative medieval hill towns.
