You are required to carry your pack on and off trains and buses, up hotel steps, etc. Your itinerary may include easy paced walks or bike rides, but these are on mainly flat ground.
The trip includes a range of accommodation, such as basic hotels with western facilities or overnight trains. Days of being on the move are well interspersed, communication with the outside world is ever-present and a wide variety of food is commonly available.

From the airport, transfer to beachside bliss just outside vibrant Stone Town. Enjoy a spice tour into the island's interior and taste the tropical fruits that abound on this isle-of-plenty.
Travel north-east to soak up the sun on a beach of pure white sand. Stay two nights in a luxury resort built from locally sourced coral, limestone and mangrove timbers and sleep in traditional-style rooms. The resort is located on the palm-fringed coastline where stretches of white sand reach into the welcoming waters. The spectacular offshore reef, home to a startling array of brightly coloured fish, makes for excellent snorkelling and diving. Perhaps splash out on exciting activities including water skiing and deep sea fishing.
There's time for a final swim before transferring to Zanzibar Airport after breakfast.
